Los Angeles, CA (February 26, 2007) – EmpireCLS Worldwide Chauffeured
Services drove over 100 “green” cars for the 79th Annual Academy
Awards, which were held at the Kodak Theatre on February 25, 2007 in Los
Angeles. Show participants stepped onto the red carpet from E-85 Flex
Fuel Chevy Tahoes, GMC Suburbans, and Hybrid Saturn Vues. General Motors
provided the Academy with the luxury vehicles for the Academy’s first
completely green Oscars production.
The Academy wanted a limousine company that could handle the heavy demand
and deliver their passengers in red carpet style. They entrusted EmpireCLS
with the responsibility. An expert in providing vehicles for award
shows, EmpireCLS was honored to be a part of this historic effort by the
Academy. “It was a flawless evening,” said Rod Rave, EmpireCLS
Vice President of Operations for the Western Region, “and we were pleased
to have repaid the Academy’s trust with a perfect night.”
And it was a record night for EmpireCLS, who generally averages between
200 and 250 vehicles per award show. The additional green vehicles
boosted the total to 366 for the evening. With over 50 on-site coordinators
between the red carpet and the after-show party locations, EmpireCLS covered
their ground.
“We begin planning in early December,” said Maggie Kakish, EmpireCLS
Director of Events & Corporate Development. “From the many
meetings, to the reservations and last minute changes, to the production
of information packets and the trial run-throughs, there is never too much
planning when it comes to the Academy Awards.”
